We can practice hours a day have a fabulous well-trained voice, but if our body and our minds aren't up to playing their part our vocal performance may not be what we had hoped. The holistic voice coach considers the whole singer: physical fitness with special attention to posture and alignment, and health and wellness including a mental & emotional focus; something which many singers feel is missing from their current education but is a huge topic in modern vocal pedagogy.
Everytime that we let anxiety run wild with our imagination of what could go wrong in a performance or visualize other negative thoughts of failure, the brain imputs those images. If you spend time thinking about the mistakes you might make or the problems you might have when you are performing, you are training your brain. For example if you think "I am nervous about hitting that high note" when the high note comes, your brain will feed you back the data it has: "you are nervous"
Practice and training have been considered by many as a way to help alleviate Vocal Performance Anxiety, but sometimes practice isn't enough. For a century there have been studies on the mental aspect of sport performance, but only recently has the mental aspect of performance of vocalists and musicians been approched in the a similar manner. Dianna Kenny, Professor of Psychology and Music and the most prominent researcher of Music Performance Anxiety in the 21st century has 59 pages devoted to treatments of MPA in The Psychology of Music Performance Anxiety (2011) That range from meditation to medication. The bottom line: although our biology may be similar, no two people are alike, no two voices are like. Everyone has different vocal experience and the human psyche is still much of a mystery and different for each individual. What works for one person may not work for another. Therefore a holistic vocal approach is tailored to the individual.
Although there are many different types on interventions, studies show that therapies that address the emotional as well as the physical responses of MPA can successfully lower levels of performance anxiety. Positive Prime is like multiple therapies built all into one. It is is a web-based visual mental training tool that uses science, positive psychology with carefully designed that combines multiple therapies into one: Phototherapy, Mastery Therapy, Chromotherapy, Color Psychology, Music Therapy and Success imagery. The neuroscience/psychology-based online program claims it is designed to “prime” the brain for receptivity, optimism, and resilience by activating transformation on a neurological and psychological level through “positive” media to prepare the mind for flow state.

I am looking for singers join a short research study to assess the effectiveness of the Positive Prime virtual vision board in combatting music performance anxiety in singers.
